High Point by Design, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to draw visitors seeking great design to High Point year-round, has appointed a new Board President – Carol Gregg.
Gregg is the founder of red egg, a High Point-based home furnishings brand. A resident since 2004, she has been an active participant in the greater High Point community. She replaces Tom Van Dessel, who owns Splashworks, an art reproduction house, and has served as President of the organization since 2021.
“I’m very excited to be passing the baton to Carol Gregg,” said Van Dessel. “Carol brings an intimate knowledge of and experience in the world of Design, as well as a passion for revitalizing High Point and engaging our community.”
When HPxD was conceived in April 2020, Gregg was at the table. She was part of a group of High Point showroom owners, local industry stakeholders, and entrepreneurs who met Saturday mornings at Cohab.Space to discuss the fate of High Point’s design scene following the postponement of Spring Market. It was Gregg, in fact, who coined “High Point by Design.”
“To have an organization like HPxD whose vision is to activate High Point as a year-round design destination, open to all, is a dream come true for me,” said Gregg. “I am excited to step into the role of HPxD Board President as we begin the work of implementing our new strategic plan and continue to build a strong brand that interfaces with both our Home Furnishings Industry and the local community.”
Gregg’s appointment was announced at a recent member meeting, as were the outcomes resulting from the organization’s new strategic plan which will unfold under Gregg’s watch. Goals in the plan include reshaping the Board, moving forward with signature designer events like the Vacation Rental Design Summit, and growing the membership. The latest brands to join HPxD are Hooker Furnishings and Classic Home.
