Furniture, Lighting & Decor is proud to announce the appointment of Waynette Goodson as Executive Editor, a new position for the brand. Goodson starts in her new role on April 22, 2024.

“We look forward to having Waynette on our Furniture, Lighting & Decor team,” says Editor-in-Chief Diane Falvey. “Her experience and enthusiasm for design and the home furnishings industry will bring a new exciting perspective to our brand.”

Publisher Susan Jones adds, "Waynette will be an incredible addition to our team. She is a force in the industry, and we feel she will help us take the brand to the next level."

Most recently, Goodson was managing editor of Bedtimes and Sleep Savvy magazines, following a senior editor position at MattressNerd.com, where she helped develop a YouTube channel for its mattress reviews. The high point of her role in the bedding industry was creating a Beds by Design department and shepherding BedTimes’ video division.

Goodson will be integral to the Furniture, Lighting & Decor team, bringing her editorial and video experience to the brand, covering the whole home furnishings industry.

Prior to her roles in the bedding industry, Goodson held editor’s positions at Pace publications including U.S. Airways Attaché and the Santa Barbara Visitors Magazine. She also headed up the company’s hotel division as editor of Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria and Hotel Conrad magazines, their luxury in-room publications worldwide.

In 2016, Goodson was named Editor-in-Chief of Casual Living magazine. She counts this as the most fun job she ever had, representing the brand at furniture markets and developing a “Casual Friday” video series.

Goodson says this position helped her realize the influence that designers have in the furniture industry, and she began a design department featuring a regular article by renowned designer Libby Langdon. Goodson also developed a new magazine, Exterior Design, a luxury publication for the outdoor category.

“Since I began covering the furniture industry in 2016, I have been fascinated by designers,” Goodson said. “Now I am so excited to come on board at Furniture, Lighting & Décor and write about design. I’m so happy to bring my knowledge of the outdoor and bedding categories to the design trade.”

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Goodson started her career in community news journalism. Goodson has also served as an adjunct professor, teaching magazine feature writing at Wake Forest University, her highest honor.
