Surya President Satya Tiwari was honored last week with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Southeast region in the family business category.
Tiwari received the award at a gala event at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta on June 8. The honor recognizes business leaders who are excelling in areas such as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
“I am both humbled and privileged to accept the EY Entrepreneur of the Year award,” Tiwari said. “Surya’s success has been a collaborative effort, so I must thank my family and the entire Surya team for their trust, diligence and dedication. I also attribute this award to our many loyal customers who entrust their businesses’ success, in part, to us every day. We will continue to raise the bar in the home furnishings industry and provide every customer with the exceptional products and service they have come to expect from us.”
Under Tiwari’s leadership, Surya has grown from $2.7 million in sales in 2004 to $116 million in 2016. Since 2010, he has added new product categories each year including pillows, accent furniture, bedding and wall decor.
As a winner for the Southeast region, Tiwari is now eligible for the national Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The national awards will be announced at a gala in Palm Springs, CA on November 18.
