Paula Deen and Morris Home recently sponsored an event to benefit Nationwide Children’s Hospital, one of the country’s largest not-for-profit, freestanding pediatric health care networks, based in Columbus, OH. The event, held at the Morris Home furniture store in Columbus, featured a meet-and-greet, a brunch with selections from Deen’s newest cookbook, and a silent auction that included several pieces from Deen’s furniture line with Universal Furniture.
Shoppers at the Morris Home store were also invited to enter a raffle for a trip to Savannah, GA. Hundreds of fans attended, and the silent auction event raised more than $10,000. In conjunction with the fundraiser, Deen toured the hospital and met with staff nutritionists to learn how they are educating children to eat healthy, delicious meals.
National Living Room Promotion
The benefit comes just weeks before the national Universal Furniture and Paula Deen Living Room Promotion, which takes place Aug. 3-13 at select retail partners around the country. During this time, consumers can save up to 15 percent on living room furniture. Universal is providing participating retailers with marketing materials including print, digital and Web, and is supporting the sale at a national level through online and social media advertising.
