ICFF, Wanted Design Education Lineup
ICFF and WantedDesign have announced its November seminar lineup

The International Contemporary Furnishings Fair (ICFF) and WantedDesign Manhattan, a trade event for high-end North American studios and international emerging designers, have announced the latest topics and speakers for the new co-branded, ICFF + WantedDesign Manhattan Talks stage.

This edition is the first in-person and co-located show that ICFF + WantedDesign Manhattan has produced since the partnership was announced in 2019. As one of the main destinations during NYCxDESIGN’s Annual Design Festival (November 11-18), ICFF + WantedDesign Manhattan welcome iconic names in the industry to the Talks stage to provide fresh perspectives through panel sessions, keynote presentations and intimate conversations.

The Talks Main Stage (Space 3059) is the location for eight of the 12 sessions and was designed in collaboration with Turf Design and with the support of Procédés Chenel, and Be Original Americas and its members Herman Miller, Knoll, Blu Dot, Bend Goods and Ethnicraft.

Four sessions will take place in the Oasis, by Float Studio (Space 3035), designed exclusively for ICFF + WantedDesign Manhattan. This is a place where visitors can recharge and catch their breath in the middle of the high-energy atmosphere of the fairs. With a simple design, a heavy emphasis on greenery and a topography that mimics natural landscapes, it’s an environment that feels separate but welcoming with plenty of seating and curtained pods that allow visitors to recharge both their phones with accessible ports and their minds via guided-meditation headphones. Sponsors include: Gabriel North America; Gestalt New York with Friends & Founders, Ornäs, and Mazō; Lambert & Fils; Surfacing Solution; Talk Carpet/Ege; Tune Studio; and WildLeafDesign.

2:30pm: #INSPO – Is Social Media creating a Sameness in Design?
Location: Oasis, by Float Studio | Space 3035

The rise of social media has fundamentally changed the way designers work. From how design concepts are generated (Pinterest look and feel), to where designers pay the most attention (the Instagrammable moments), the pervasiveness of curated and beguiling images are leading to a whole different endgame for designers. The question is thus posed: what is our responsibility as designers and does social media lead to a “sameness” in design? How does and should social
media affect the design process, and what’s the way forward from our current state?
