The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) announced the winners of its 34th annual International Lighting Design Awards at a presentation at The Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia, PA, on May 10.
The IALD International Lighting Design Awards program is the longest-running awards program recognizing excellence in architectural lighting design. Twenty-two award winners representing architectural lighting design projects from eight countries were honored this year.
Of the projects recognized, 21 IALD member projects earned awards. Three entries earned a Special Citation, 14 earned Awards of Merit and four received Awards of Excellence. One project earned the Radiance Award, which is given to the highest point score winner across all categories.
Accepting the Radiance Award for Excellence in Lighting Design was Dongning Wang, IALD, part of the project team from Beijing United Artists Lighting Design for the Harbin Opera House in Harbin, China.
“The IALD Awards is a living program, meant to capture the most exciting projects at the highest level of architectural lighting design excellence. I was so impressed this year by the caliber of all the projects the jury reviewed,” said IALD Awards Chair Dawn Hollingsworth, FIALD.
