The International Association of Lighting Designers welcomes four new professional members. The members accepted to the IALD between February 20 and March 20 are Stephanie Chlipala, Maria del Pilar Toro-Ortiz, Catherine Hall and Rafael Leão.
Chlipala is a lighting designer at Lang Lighting Design in Dallas, TX. She has an interior design degree from Texas Christian University and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Her work focuses primarily on hospitality spaces and she’s lead projects spanning areas including corporate, retail, educational, landscape and façade design.
Toro-Ortiz is a project manager at Ideas en Luz, a design firm in Mexico City. She manages projects at the firm ranging from private residences, corporate offices, hotels, airport terminals and mixed-use commercial spaces. She serves on the IALD Enlighten Americas Content Advisory Committee and is the IALD Mexico Regional Coordinator.
Hall is a senior lighting designer at HGA Architects and Engineers in Milwaukee. She has a Master’s degree in architecture from University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Hall is a LEED AP and works on projects ranging from healthcare facilities and higher education to museums and public plazas.
Leão is the founder and head designer at Conforto Visual Lighting Projects in São Paulo, Brazil. He has a Master’s degree in architecture from the University of São Paulo and a Bachelor’s degree in architecture from UEL – Londrina State University. He is a past president of the Brazilian Association of Lighting Architects and has completed more than 700 residential and commercial lighting projects in Brazil and the U.S.
IALD professional membership is open to architectural lighting designers with at least five years of experience as a senior designer or above at an independent consulting practice.
