Dallas Market Center, in partnership with the International Folk Art Alliance (IFAA), will serve as the exclusive host of the International Folk Art Market|Collection, June 19-23, during Dallas Total Home & Gift Market. The exhibit will be held in the World Trade Center Atrium where buyers can peruse handcrafted jewelry, gifts, and home décor that have been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine and The New York Times. Buyers will get to know more than 20 artisans from all over the world including Mexico, Uzbekistan, India and other countries.
The global artisans are part of the IFAA, which hosts the International Folk Art Market (IFAM) each summer in Santa Fe, NM. Prior to the event in Santa Fe, a number of artisans exhibit at Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, where they deliver unique merchandise from a variety of categories.
IFAM at Dallas Market Center opens the door for master folk artists to connect with tens of thousands of buyers from across the U.S. and beyond. Artists learn about wholesale marketing, order fulfillment and how to strengthen their earning opportunities through export. The wholesale connections made in Dallas provide year-round income for the artists, creating a lasting economic impact on their communities.
In turn, this showcase offers buyers a curated collection of the world’s finest folk art to diversify their product offerings. IFAM allows buyers to hear the stories behind these one-of-a-kind products direct from the source and then share these fascinating origin stories with their customers.
“We proudly support IFAM and its mission to help support artists and their communities around the world,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “As retailers seek unique, handmade products with a compelling story this temporary exhibition is a major attraction. Likewise, their spirit of creativity and generosity are important lessons for our own community of customers.”
IFAA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which envisions a world that values the dignity and humanity of the handmade, honors timeless cultural traditions, and supports the work of folk artists serving as entrepreneurs and catalysts for positive social change. The flagship International Folk Art Market|Santa Fe will be held July 12-14, 2019 on Museum Hill in Santa Fe, NM.
