A father-son team with more than four decades of experience in the mattress industry has created a line of copper-rich mattresses designed to kill the COVID-19 virus. The Copper Mattress Co. is offering three models of the mattress in different comfort feels that can be ordered online and delivered anywhere in the United States within a few days.
The Copper Mattress Co. is the brainchild of Greg and Richard Sumer, who own Marco Island Mattress, an independent furniture and mattress retailer in the region.
Copper Mattress is designed with triple the amount of copper-rich Talalay latex used in some mattresses. Copper’s anti-microbial properties are said to repel germs, bacteria and viruses – including COVID-19, according to the company. Those properties were extolled in a study recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine that showed no viable virus after being exposed to a copper surface.

The mattresses are available in three comfort levels – firm, cushion firm and plush – and have a retail price of $2,000 for queen size. The mattresses, made in the U.S., are designed with copper-infused Talalay Latex, individually pocketed coils, a cool-to-the-touch fabric and CertiPUR-US® foam.
