International Market Centers (IMC) explores the impact of consumers’ “State of Mind” on home furnishings in its Spring 2022 High Point Market TrendWatch with three all-new trends: Elation, Growth and Synthesis. Buyers can discover these connected trends via IMC’s High Point Market exhibitors in vignettes presented at the April 2-6, 2022 market and in an image-rich pre-market webinar and immersive at-market event and tour.
“Great design encourages people to reflect on the atmosphere of its creation,” explained Dorothy Belshaw, IMC executive vice president, chief customer and marketing officer. “The Spring 2022 TrendWatch allows market attendees to source products that will resonate with customers by exploring, amplifying and validating consumers’ current states of mind.”
For the first time, TrendWatch explores how disparate trends in the marketplace can ultimately relate via the macro influences that inform them. TrendWatch curator, Julie Smith Vincenti, a design expert with 25 years of experience in magazine editing and home furnishings trends forecasting, explained, “’State of Mind’ is a three-part story of desire, invention and renewal, examining consumers preferences, new expectations and shifting priorities shaped by a unique moment in world history.”
The Spring 2022 trends are:
Elation – The power of color and positivity are on full display in Elation, an expressive and upbeat display of upholstery, accent furniture, wall décor, accent rugs and more.
Growth – Preference for pastoral scenes and idyllic landscapes shifts to forest terrain and groundcover in Growth, a showcase of emerging neutrals and nuanced textures. It tracks one of the most anticipated trends in color forecasting: browns eclipsing grays.
Synthesis – Tech meets tradition in Synthesis, a mix of textures, styles and finishes that evoke ingenuity, imagination and resilience. Surface treatments and unique finishes, plus confident sampling from many styles and genres, creates a dynamic atmosphere.
The TrendWatch trend report and related seminars and tour are influenced by consumer insights and creative intelligence from the interiors, fashion and consumer product arenas. They are part of a robust slated of programming by DesignOnHPMKT by IMC – the voice of IMC’s High Point Market. The pre-market webinar is Wednesday, March 16 with the at-market presentation on Saturday, April 2 and tour on Sunday, April 3. A digital look book will be available before the market.
