Woodard-CM, LLC, a subsidiary of Litex Industries, Ltd, has converted part of the sewing capacity at its Owosso, MI outdoor furniture factory to the manufacture of non-N95 face masks primarily for medical professionals, first responders and patients. Owosso personnel have already created cutting dies and ordered fabric. Woodard believes it can ramp up production to 1,000 masks per day.
The 154 year-old Woodard is reaching out to other American furniture manufacturers to help in any way possible.
“Now is the time to give something back, and we’re all in this together,” says Jean Liu, Litex’s CEO. “We will gratefully accept any and all assistance as we try to fill a short-term gap during this crisis.”
If you feel that you can help in any way, or if you know of a compelling need for these masks, please contact Jean Liu, jliu@litexindustries.com or Louie Zelenka at lzelenka@woodard-furniture.com.
While the company's sewing department is staying on to help out in this crisis, Woodard is following all of the guidelines and asking people to work from home, operating only essential skeleton crews, practicing social distancing and staying up-to-date with the ever-changing recommendations.
As the coronavirus crisis continues to ramp up across the United States, companies with sewing and other capabilities are beginning to come together to help fill equipment and supply shortages facing medical facilities across the country. Watch furniturelighitngdecor.com as these stories develop.
