The 6,600-square-foot space encapsulates a new vision for the brand that celebrates its history while introducing the interior design and architecture communities to new colorways available through the showroom. Visitors will be able to experience and explore Brown Jordan’s wide range of cutting-edge designs, fabrics, and finishes at the inspired new location.

“With the opening of our new showroom at the New York Design Center, Brown Jordan officially plants a flag firmly into the epicenter of the design industry,” said Brown Jordan CEO Gene Moriarty. “This marks the beginning of Brown Jordan’s biggest and brightest chapter in our almost 80 year history. We’re not only offering never before seen exclusive interpretations of our iconic designs, but over the next several months, we will begin rolling out multiple new collection introductions and expanding our list of best in class design partners. Brown Jordan has always been at the forefront of outdoor luxury, and that message is about to get a whole lot louder.”

Designed by Barbara Reimelt of The Ninetynine Group, whose highly disciplined design approach delivers strong brand visual presentations that collate brand stories with real-world opportunities, the showroom is a fully immersive experience that infuses imagination, creativity and the unexpected.

“I like to create environments that speak to the sensibility of the products to bring consistency in the messaging of the design and brand ethos,” said Reimelt. “Here, my main inspiration for the showroom design stemmed from the beautifully curved lines of the Walter Lamb Chair. With a total of twelve different collections featured throughout the showroom, it was important to create spaces within that felt like distinct cocoons for each of the collections without impeding the movement throughout. The flow of the showroom intentionally creates an invisible guide that allows you to experience the spaces in a way that seamlessly propels you from one to the next.”

The showroom celebrates Brown Jordan’s almost 80 years as America’s premier purveyor of luxury outdoor furniture, setting the standard with iconic, award-winning designs found at prestigious locations including The White House, The Ritz Hotel in Paris, The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach and the Smithsonian Museum. In honor of the opening, exclusive designs are offered throughout the new space by many of the brand’s legendary design collaborators including Walter Lamb, Richard Frinier, and John Caldwell in addition to recent award-winning collections by Ann Marie Vering and Toan Nguyen. A museum-like display showcases the “First Chair Ever Made,” Morning Glory created in 1945 in Pasadena, California.

The dominant design influence for the flagship showroom is Brown Jordan’s 1948 Walter Lamb Bronze collection, specifically the curves of Lamb’s iconic S-shaped lounger. These graceful lines are echoed in rounded walls throughout and in dramatic, large-scale sculptural elements that divide the space. The latter are lacquered in a new pomegranate inspired color called Almandine and embellished with the brand’s logo in burnished bronze.

More notable design details include:

A pair of large-scale decorative screens inspired by iconic designer Hall Bradley’s 1967 Calcutta collection provide a striking entrance to the showroom. Each screen is constructed from 16 Calcutta chair backs fabricated in aluminum, meticulously welded together, then sanded, buffed, and polished. This inventive interpretation of a signature design element showcases Calcutta’s cast-metal bamboo pattern, unrivaled in detail to this day.

A large-scale, modernist wisteria vine-covered pergola creates a show-stopping cocoon that brings the outdoors in, inspired by the architecture and geometry of a gazebo at Longhouse Reserve in East Hampton, New York.

An array of 14 award-winning chairs posed on a sinuous, elevated two-level display that mimics the curves of Walter Lamb’s S-shaped lounger. These instantly recognizable designs are fabricated in unexpected mixes of color and material that inspire new ways to spec luxury outdoor furniture.

A dedicated Brown Jordan outdoor kitchen/bar setting welcomes design professionals to envision and create unique outdoor entertaining rooms that extend beyond the furniture.
(Brown Jordan kitchens are manufactured in America by Danver Stainless Outdoor Kitchens, the industry’s premier stainless steel cabinet manufacturer for over 20 years.)

Living green spaces feature large-scale concrete planters handmade by Opiary Studio in Brooklyn, New York. Organically shaped matte black “Terrainers” that are big enough to stand in and clusters of oversize matte white saucers, both planted with moss and succulents and complemented by Opiary’s otherworldly standing lamps and spire-like Hoodoo sculptures.

The showroom is illuminated by celebrated designer Kelly Wearstler’s lighting collection.

The showroom is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.brownjordan.com.

Tue, 22 Nov 2022 19:42:48 +0000 gannunzio 7054 at https://www.furniturelightingdecor.com IMC Names Five Spring 2021 High Point Market Snapshot People's Choice Winners https://www.furniturelightingdecor.com/imc-names-five-spring-2021-high-point-market-snapshot-peoples-choice-winners IMC Names Five Spring 2021 High Point Market Snapshot People's Choice Winners amcintosh Sun, 06/06/2021 - 21:01

International Market Centers (IMC) announced the five winners of its Spring 2021 High Point Market Snapshot "People's Choice" awards: Fire Tables by Brown Jordan, the Content Cabinet 03/04 by Camerich USA, the Dakota Sofa 180 by Dôme Deco, Temple Jars by Legend Accents / Legend of ASIA and the Zachary Mantel Shelf by Pearl Mantels. Launched March 1, the newly envisioned site enables architects, designers and consumers the ability to peruse collections with exceptional access, speed and ease. Further, the site permits users to filter searches by–collection, category, designer, material and function—and provides detailed information on construction, care, choice of finishes and fabrics and enhanced viewing capabilities in 360 degrees.

“Well before the pandemic, our customers were seeking more purposeful and efficient ways to view and explore products from the convenience of their studio, workplace or at home,” said Gene J. Moriarty, President and Chief Executive Officer. “By engineering a best-in-class website that complements our vast furniture offering, Brown Jordan assures a superlative experience reflective of our brand’s heritage.”

Design Portal Innovation

Most notably, design professionals can rely on the site’s exclusive design portal and access 2D and 3D product renderings. The portal’s innovative product configurator showcases 360 degree product views and also allows designers to download renderings and integrate them into their presentations and plans. Upgraded filtering permits users to readily identify collections that suit projects and help them make better decisions through an automated system. Further, designers can easily create carts of interest, and have several options reviewed simultaneously, and then are conveniently directed to a price quoting system. Future portal enhancements are in development and will include options to create project mood boards, and the ability to develop and share presentations with clients and help them plan spaces with user-friendly innovative tools.

“By empowering designers, Brown Jordan is eliminating the barriers that impede the overall specification process,” said Julie Daniel, Vice President, Marketing, Brown Jordan Inc. “Too often, digital platforms offer limited information as well as an inability to properly see and experience products, unless one sets foot in a showroom. Our new site’s capabilities rival in-person visits and deliver an easy, secure and top- level experience that our customers have come to trust and expect.”

In addition to enhancements outlined above, the site’s layout has been redesigned to enable an ease in navigation through menus that streamline the process and direct users accordingly to showrooms, dealers, customer service, care and maintenance. Further, the interface has been modified with a fresh and crisp design as well as improved layout of collections and products shown silhouetted and in lifestyle settings as well as exclusive curated content serving A+D and residential audiences.

Mon, 08 Mar 2021 14:22:04 +0000 amcintosh 5608 at https://www.furniturelightingdecor.com Brown Jordan Inc. To commemorate this milestone in the company’s history, Brown Jordan has decided to bring back its most iconic collection in a contemporary and elevated version.

“We are thrilled to be reissuing the memorable collection that launched Brown Jordan into the brand that it is today,” says Gene J. Moriarty, President/CEO of Brown Jordan. “The craftsmanship and versatility that was revered in the original line has been a core tenet in all of our collections that have followed.”

When the original Bronze Collection was released in 1947, the series translated the Mid-Century design sensibility to the outdoors, as the country’s post-war boom led to the growth of the outdoor furniture market. The Bronze collection is still highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts today.

“Walter Lamb was instrumental in helping establishing the brand DNA for Brown Jordan,” says Stephen Elton, Chief Brand Curator at Brown Jordan. “The Bronze collection helped define American leisure furniture, and we are thrilled to honor that timeless vision.”

Santa Barbara-based Walter Lamb conceived the idea for the original Bronze collection in partnership with founders of the Brown Jordan brand, Robert Brown and Hubert Jordan. Working with salvaged bronze and brass piping from sunken naval ships at Pearl Harbor, Lamb managed to create elegant patio furniture. His use of materials was revolutionary in both in concept and design at the time.

Building on the beloved attributes of the original version, the Aluminum Collection has expanded its offerings in terms of shape, size, color and finish. Within a 10-week quarter in collaboration with Brown Jordan, the students were tasked with researching, designing and building a collection of outdoor furniture.

SCAD sought expertise from professionals in the field so that the students could be given proper guidance, including Brown Jordan’s Chief Brand Curator Stephen F. Elton. Elton says of the collaboration, “It’s such an honor to help guide these extremely talented and innovative young minds. The pieces they created are both masterfully crafted and conceptually original.” Designer Richard Frinier visited the class at mid-term to review the students’ designs and give feedback.

Not only did Elton give support to the students during each phase of construction, but he also served as a judge at the end of the quarter and critiqued the final products. Guest judges included SCAD Honorary Dean of the School of Building Arts, Margaret Russell, and Dean of the School of Building Arts, Dr. Geoffrey S. Taylor. SCAD and Brown Jordan teamed up with Arbor Wood Co., which generously donated the materials used to produce the furniture. The company uses a unique process called thermal modification to organically extend the life of its wood products by using only heat and water to make the wood withstand outside elements.

Frederic Spector, Associate Chair of Furniture Design at SCAD, praised the collaboration saying, “We are thrilled to have had Brown Jordan so intimately involved in every step of the design process. The students benefitted greatly from Stephen’s advice and expertise.”

A select few pieces were given awards for a number of categories. The winners were Tahani Ahmed Aldeini for the Design Award, Aaron Tyler Atwood for the Innovation Award, and Quinten Juan Sanchez for the Materials Award. The award-winning works as well as some of the other top pieces debuted as part of SCAD’s exhibit at ICFF.

Tue, 28 May 2019 16:23:36 +0000 amcintosh 3429 at https://www.furniturelightingdecor.com
