Lightovation, the largest residential lighting trade event in North America, held inside the home of lighting, Dallas Market Center, announces showroom news and the events taking place during Lightovation, January 8-11, and the Lightovation Interior Designer Preview Day on January 7.

Lighting showrooms encompass more than 1 million square feet at Dallas Market Center and include iconic brands and newer companies creating compelling designs featuring the latest technology. January is the largest lighting trade event of the year and includes new collections and advancements in virtually every showroom, complemented by an events list that includes tours, seminars, and presentations from bright minds in the business of retail, trends, design, and lighting technology. Plus, there are events held in association with key design organizations including the American Lighting Association (ALA), the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), and others.

All attendees are welcome to visit The SMART Center, the buyers’ lounge, networking, meeting area, and seminar center located in Trade Mart (TM) 4826. An information desk and complimentary refreshments are also available there.

Attendees are also encouraged to visit the Connections Housing travel desk by the TM 3 front escalators in order to take advantage of exclusive deals and discounts on hotels for the June 18-21 edition of Lightovation. New and Expanded Showrooms

There are a number of additions and expansions debuting at Lightovation.

In the Trade Mart lighting neighborhoods, a new, expanded location for the popular International Pavilion will debut. New in the International Pavilion (TM 4926) are Berkana Crystal (TM 4926-1), which distributes Czech crystal lighting, and Pooky Lighting (TM 4926-6), which offers decorative lighting at the right price point. They join WakaNINE, Zafferano, and Buster & Punch.

New showrooms for Lightovation are Alteck Lighting (TM 3383), a leader in LED design and production; Starfire Crystal (TM 4634), a fine crystal chandelier importer; and Viro (TM 4331), a custom lighting division of Hammerton. Dainolite (TM 3917) is returning with their contemporary lighting. Plus, lighting leader and maker of luxury crystal chandeliers Schonbek (TM 3303) is relocating and expanding.

Also new in the Spectrum shared showroom (TM 4432) are Abba Lighting USA (TM 4432-21), distributor of outdoor lighting; lighting manufacturer Dainte Lighting (TM 4432-10); and Hanover Lantern (TM 4432-6), which offers cast-aluminum lighting.

11 a.m.: Illuminating Trends: Applying ASID’s 2025 Trends Outlook Report to Lighting and Retail. Location: TM 4 - Elevator Lobby. Discover the top 10 trends from the ASID 2025 Trends Outlook Report, sponsored by Lightovation and Sherwin-Williams. Learn how these key trends impact lighting design, application, and retail displays. Join experts Heather Fujikawa, Kirsten Recce, and Jeff Dross in a discussion with ASID Research Fellow S. Dawn Haynie, PhD. Attendees will receive a link to download the full report post-show.

1 p.m.: Decorative Lighting & Well Building Standard - Who Knew? 1.0 HSW CEU. Location: International Pavilion, TM 4926. Careful utilization of decorative lighting can influence achievement of over 10% of the features comprising the WELL building standard. The key concepts of the standard are described and the features that are positively impacted by decorative fixtures are examined. Good acoustics within a space can contribute to achievement of WELL certification. The history of acoustics along with the key elements of NRC, Sabin and RT60 are explained. Acoustic fixtures currently available are reviewed and specification/selection criteria explained. WELL standards that are accomplished via use of biophilia, beauty and sculpture are reviewed along with the task light WELL feature. Attendees of this session, which is presented by WakaNINE, will earn 1.0 HSW CEU.

2 p.m.: NKBA 2025 Kitchen & Bath Trends Presentation & Panel. Location: TM 4 - N. Elevator Lobby. The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) will present important directions from its recently released 2025 Kitchen Trends Report and a first look at its 2025 Bath Trends Report. Following an overview from NKBA’s Head of Research Tricia Zach of what is forecast for these key rooms, a panel discussion moderated by Leslie Carothers of Savour Partnership will cover how those trends will integrate into projects and affect lighting design and applications. Panel experts will include NKBA Texas North Plains Chapter President Andrew Risinger, CMKBD, of Kitchen Bath & Home; Robin Burrill of Signature Home Services and Patricia Davis Brown, CMKBD, of Patricia Davis Brown Designs, LLC.

3 p.m.: Kitchen & Bath Lighting Trend Tour. Location: TM 4 - N. Elevator Lobby. Join the Texas North Plains Chapter of the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) for an open-to-all tour of select Lightovation exhibits featuring on-trend solutions for kitchens and baths. Interior designer and lighting expert Patricia Davis Brown, CMKBD, will be your guide, providing her own insights alongside a showcase of the latest lighting introductions for these lucrative rooms.

5 p.m.: ALA Women in Lighting Reception. Location: TM 3902 - The Hudson Valley Lighting Group. Join the American Lighting Association’s Women in Lighting Committee for a networking reception that’s open to everyone. Hosted by the Hudson Valley Lighting Group, this event will celebrate the group’s recent philanthropic support of the Tory Burch Foundation, as well as kick off its 2025 Mentorship Groups and Leadership Award nominations.

Dallas Market Center and ART, the creative home furnishings network, have announced that Lois del Negro will accept the Trailblazer Award for her significant accomplishments in the home furnishing industry at the 35th ARTS Awards, taking place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas on Friday, January 10, 2025. The Trailblazer Award is a special award recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and pioneering efforts in the industry.

Del Negro was one of the founders and owners of Global Views, where she held many roles in the company and, over the years, led strategic growth initiatives, built strong relationships with clients and suppliers, and fostered their international business. From her first job as a home furnishings buyer at Macy's to building a solid team at Global Views, Lois has inspired, motivated, and mentored many individuals in the home industry.

“Lois is a true Trailblazer in the home furnishings industry,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “Her leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence not only elevated Global Views, but also inspired those around her to strive for greatness.”

Added Sharon Davis, executive director of ART: “Lois’s commitment to mentoring future leaders and her impactful work with the industry and community show an innovative spirit who truly deserves to be the first to receive the Trailblazer Award.”

In addition to her professional achievements, she is actively involved in the home furnishings community. She served as President of ART (the Home Accents Industry Association), where she helped shape the organization’s strategy and enhanced member engagement. Her commitment to mentorship and community service is exemplified through her work with Dwell with Dignity, a charity that supports homeless single mothers, the yearly ART service projects, as well as her efforts to establish hospitality venues at major trade shows.

“Receiving the Trailblazer Award is a profound honor that reflects not just my journey, but the collective efforts of those I’ve worked with along the way. I believe in the power of mentorship and community, and I’m dedicated to fostering growth and innovation in the home furnishings industry. This award inspires me to continue championing positive change and supporting others in their paths to success,” said Lois del Negro.

In addition to the Trailblazer Award, there are dozens of categories of awards being presented at the ARTS Awards to retailers, manufacturers, designers and sales representatives. Dallas Market Center and ART, the creative home furnishings network, has announced the finalists for the 35th ARTS Awards, the premier awards program dedicated to the home industry, taking place Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Hilton Anatole.

A committee of industry experts has evaluated and ranked hundreds of nominations to determine the list of finalists. The finalists will next submit materials for judging in the fall, by a separate panel of industry experts and award recipients will be announced at the gala event in January. Special category awards including Academy of Achievement, the HEARTS Award, and the new Trailblazer Award will be announced in the coming weeks. Reservation for the ARTS Awards will open in early October.

“Congratulations to this year’s finalists, including many first-time honorees, for their remarkable achievements,” said Sharon Davis, Executive Director of ART. Added Cindy Morris, President and CEO of Dallas Market Center, “This list highlights exceptional industry excellence which we look forward to celebrating in Dallas.”

The ARTS Awards process starts with industry professionals, companies, and individuals submitting nominations online across various categories. An independent panel of experts reviews these nominations and selects a shortlist of finalists. Finalists then submit additional materials for further evaluation by a separate judging panel. Winners are determined and announced at the ARTS Awards ceremony on January 10, 2025, where they are celebrated for their excellence. Neither membership in ART nor representation at Dallas Market Center is necessary to nominate or to be a nominee.

Gift for Life, the gift and home industries’ national charitable organization, has announced a special fundraising campaign celebrating the nomination of GFL Board member Russ Jones for his 2024 ARTS Award nomination in the Sales Representative East/Atlantic category. Donations, which benefit GFL beneficiary World Central Kitchen (WCK), are accepted at www.giftforlife.org/donate.

ARTS Award winners will be announced at a gala event on Friday, January 12, 2024, during the Dallas Total Home and Gift Market. Tickets can be purchased at https://dallasmarketcenter.com/ArtsAwards/reservations/.

“This nomination is a testament to Russ’ ingenuity and passion for the industry he serves,” said Ari Lowenstein, Chair of Gift for Life. “We are so fortunate that he is a part of the GFL board and uses his many talents to benefit World Central Kitchen’s crisis-related hunger relief efforts and to raise funds for GMHC as a member of our Gift for Life AIDS Walk team. We wish him the best of luck in January!

Jones joined Gift for Life in 2017 and in 2022 spearheaded the launch of Home vs Hunger, the first independently organized partnership between Gift for Life and leading members of the home industry. Since that time, this new home industry charitable initiative has raised nearly $40,000 for World Central Kitchen through events at High Point Market and ad hoc online fundraising.

“Being nominated for the 2024 ARTS Award is a profound honor. This nomination fuels my passion to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. I am truly touched by the recognition and excited for what the future holds,” said Russ. “Serving on the Gift For Life Board has been immensely fulfilling, especially in championing the Home vs Hunger initiative, which strives to combat crisis-related hunger through our collective efforts. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to World Central Kitchen's vital mission and to support GMHC through Gift for Life's AIDS Walk team.”

For the past 18 years, Russ has worked with Ivystone as a luxe home and hospitality sales representative, working with key accounts and retail stores along with hundreds of New York City design and architectural firms. Prior to Ivystone, Russ had a successful career in showbiz as a singer/dancer on Broadway and ran a gift store called Flights of Fancy for 10 years on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

The ARTS Awards is a peer-nominated program developed by the non-profit ART (Accessories Resource Team) and produced by Dallas Market Center. Submissions are independently reviewed and scored based on criteria established by the ARTS Awards committee, and hundreds of nominations are evaluated to determine the list of finalists.

Karen McNeill to Receive Leadership Award at 34th ARTS Awards gannunzio Tue, 10/03/2023 - 18:13

Dallas Market Center and ART, the creative home furnishings network, have announced that Karen McNeill will receive a Legendary Leadership Award at the 34th ARTS Awards taking place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas on Friday, January 12, 2024.

McNeill is the President of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation Inc., a nonprofit public charity committed to honoring and preserving the legacy of individuals who have made significant contributions to the home furnishings industry and inspiring the next generation of innovative leaders in the industry.

The Legendary Leadership Award honors an individual who has not only achieved esteemed recognition from industry peers, but who has also led the home industry with passion, and whose dedication has helped hundreds of companies succeed.

“It is a privilege to present the Legendary Leadership Award to Karen,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “Her leadership has added substantial value to the home industry, and her support of the home furnishings community and history has added an immeasurable value to businesses large and small.”

Added Sharon Davis, executive director of ART: “Karen is a passionate leader and fearless champion of the home industry, and she deserves special recognition this year. The Legendary Leadership Award is a way for us to recognize a true pioneer in the home industry, and Karen exemplifies the best qualities of our business.”

Karen McNeill’s career in the home furnishing industry has spanned over several decades and began with her role as Director of Marketing at the Southern Furniture Market Center and as Director of The Design Center (now ANDMORE).

Karen’s passion for empowering future generations in the home furnishings industry can be seen in her accomplishments during her tenure as President of the Board of Directors and CEO of the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation Inc. She created the Leadership Initiative which includes a keynote address at the Induction Celebration, the Paul Broyhill Future Leader Award, and the Home Furnishings Leadership Institute at High Point University.

Her most recent achievement was the opening of the Hall of Fame in High Point, North Carolina, in April of 2023. This 25,000 sq ft hall contains permanent fixtures such as museum exhibits, the Stephen Knight Pond Library, and The Hughes Family History Center, and contains an event space, as well. By yearend, the Hall of Fame will have hosted nearly 100 events ranging from board meetings, design summits, and seminars to cocktail parties, fashion shows, and video and photography shoots.

Her accomplishments can also be seen in the success of her full-service marketing and public relations agency which has served industries such as home furnishings, telecommunications, tourism, and more, for over 30 years.

“I am grateful for this honor as a tribute to our noble $150 billion industry that is committed to improving the lives of people around the globe by creating beautiful homes,” Karen McNeill, the President of the Board of Directors, and Chief Executive Officer of American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation Inc, said. “The unifying support across the industry has been unmatched. None of this would have been possible without the Hall of Fame team that took on every challenge with enthusiasm and commitment to see the dream of our founders in 1988 come to fruition. There are no words for how exciting and fun the last four years have been and it has been my good fortune to be the one in this seat.”

In addition to the Legendary Leadership Award, there are dozens of category awards being presented at the ARTS Awards to retailers, manufacturers, designers and sales representatives. Dallas Market Center and ART, the creative home furnishings network, have announced that Loloi will receive the HEARTS Award at the 34th ARTS Awards taking place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas on Friday, January 12, 2024. The ARTS Awards, presented annually during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, celebrates preeminent manufacturers, retailers, interior designers, product designers, and sales representatives.

Loloi has been nominated for the HEARTS Award by Gift for Life, the charitable organization raising funds for hunger relief via its Home Vs. Hunger initiative. The HEARTS Award is a special honor that began as an entire event during the pandemic. In June of 2021, the annual ARTS Awards was replaced by a one-time special event called the HEARTS Awards held in partnership and solidarity with 12 leading industry organizations to honor companies and individuals that have shown outstanding leadership, empathy, and service during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the return of the ARTS Awards to an in-person event, organizations have been invited to nominate a worthy organization for a HEARTS Award as a special award presented at the ARTS Awards. This year, the ARTS Awards Committee selected Loloi from among the nominees.

Said Sharon Davis, executive director of ART: “The Loloi family and company have personified and enacted the virtues of this award for decades. Their support of their industry, community, and humanitarian causes are worthy of recognition. They are an example to all of us.”

Added Ari Lowenstein, chairman of the board for Gift for Life: “Our organization has observed, and benefitted from, Loloi’s consistent support of many causes. Their passionate efforts in the service of others and the significant impact they have made is felt by many communities. This commitment is in their family and company DNA as they lift others up and offer care and support time and again. Our organization is pleased to recognize Loloi for the important work they do.”

Amir Loloi, a forty five-year veteran of the home furnishings industry, emigrated from Iran to the United States as a teenager. While earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Dallas, Amir began his rug career with a traditional rug importer in the city, methodically rising through the ranks before following his entrepreneurial spirit and launching his own company, Loloi, in 2004.

Amir’s sons, Steven and Cyrus Loloi, joined the brand in 2009 and 2011, respectively, and are both actively involved in all aspects of the business. Now coming up on 20 years of the business, Loloi has become the “most trusted, go-to” resource in the industry for major retailers and top interior designers alike. Meanwhile, consumers covet Loloi’s products, including their collaborations with Amber Lewis, Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines, Rifle Paper Co., and more. Through it all, Amir’s innate understanding of the layered home has resulted in Loloi designs being some of the most celebrated and widely distributed products in the home furnishings industry.

Today, Loloi is a diverse and vibrant global company with more than 600 employees, multiple warehouses and showrooms, and countless customers nationwide and abroad. Amir continues to innovate, excel, inspire, and elevate the home industry and is focused on continuing to evolve the Loloi ecosystem for the next twenty years and beyond. As a philanthropist, Amir supports many causes both local and abroad that work towards the betterment and advancement of families, weavers and artists, and communities in general. Amir resides in Dallas with his wife and his sons’ families nearby, visiting his grandkids whenever he has the chance.

Dallas Market Center and ART, the creative home furnishings network, have announced that Maria Mullen, CEO of Hubbardton Forge, will receive the Academy of Achievement honor at the 34th ARTS Awards taking place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas on Friday, January 12, 2024. The ARTS Awards, presented annually during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, celebrates preeminent manufacturers, retailers, interior designers, product designers and sales representatives.

“Maria’s decades of leadership are respected across the lighting and home industries,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “Her positive impact on the business is significant, her mentorship is outstanding, and she continues to be a visionary leader.”

Sharon Davis, executive director of ART, added: “It’s an honor to present the Academy of Achievement to someone who has added so much value to the industry through her career achievements, but also through her commitment to industry organizations and philanthropic efforts.”

Mullen has served as CEO of Hubbardton Forge since 2020. The 50-year-old company produces made-to-order lighting in its 100,000-square-foot facility in Castleton, VT. Mullen began her career in the fashion and sporting goods industries. Stints at Bruno Magli and Gianni Versace as well as Champion Products and Ewing Athletics took her around the world and exposed her to everything from professional sports to high fashion.

In 1998 Mullen joined Murray Feiss, now part of Visual Comfort & Co. Her eye for design and her sales acumen led founder Murray Feiss to add her to the company's design committee, where she helped the company to even greater success.

In 2005, Mullen left Murray Feiss and joined The Uttermost Company as VP of Sales. She led the company's initiative into fixed lighting and introduced their first lighting line in January of 2007. In 2009 she returned to Murray Feiss, then a Generation Brands company at the behest of then-President Greg Vandia. The company had suffered during the Great Recession, and she spearheaded the rebuilding by, once again, focusing the company on great product and customer service.

In 2011 she was elevated to President of the newly formed Feiss/Monte Carlo. In 2013, Mullen departed Feiss/Monte Carlo and founded Kalizma Home with her partner Barb Cote. Kalizma Home is a design consultancy firm that designs and develops private-label lighting products for many industry partners. In 2020 Mullen turned over control of Kalizma to Cote to join Hubbardton Forge.

In addition to her corporate leadership, Mullen has been committed to industry organizations and charitable organizations. She is an active participant in ALA, Women in Lighting, and WithIT. She currently serves on The Dallas Market Center's Lighting Board of Governors. For more than 20 years she has worked tirelessly for the H Foundation, a charitable organization that raises funds for basic cancer research. She sits on their Board of Directors. In 2021 Mullen, with the H Foundation, launched a special fund to raise awareness and money for research into BRCA in memory of her friend Karen Krieger.

Dallas Market Center and ART, the creative home furnishings network, have announced the finalists for the 34th ARTS Awards. The ARTS Awards is the premier international awards program dedicated to home industry excellence and achievement.

A committee of industry experts evaluated hundreds of submitted nominations to determine the list of finalists. The announced finalists will submit materials for judging in the fall, and award recipients will be announced at a gala event in Dallas on Friday, January 12, 2024. Special category awards including Academy of Achievement and the HEARTS Award will be announced at a later date.

“This year’s finalists include many new names as well as previous honorees,” said Sharon Davis, executive director of ART. “We congratulate them on this achievement.” Added Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center: “Strong commitment to excellence in our industry is clearly on display with this list of finalists. We look forward to celebrating them in Dallas.”

Dallas Market Center and ART, the creative home furnishings network, announce the guest presenters for the 33rd annual ARTS Awards taking place on Friday, January 6, 2023. The ARTS Awards, hosted annually in January during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, acknowledges preeminent manufacturers, retailers, interior designers, products designers and sales representatives.

Following the judging process by a panel of independent industry experts, category winners will be announced for the first time at the gala event. In addition to category winners, the Academy of Achievement honor will be awarded to The White Family and the HEARTS Award will be presented to CULP, Inc.

Dallas Market Center and ART, the creative home furnishings network, have announced the finalists for the 33rd ARTS Awards. The ARTS Awards is the premier international awards program dedicated to the home décor industry.

A panel of industry experts evaluated hundreds of submitted nominations to determine the list of finalists.
