Albany, N.Y. – Ashley Furniture Homestore will open a new 25,000-sq.-ft. store here at 1221 N. Westover Blvd.
The Albany Herald reports the store is expected to open sometime this spring. Ashley Furniture Homestore’s home accent offerings include accent furniture, rugs, lighting, soft goods, wall décor and decorative accessories.
Ashley Furniture Homestore will also open a 15,000-sq.-ft. outlet store in March in Victoria, Texas. According to the Victoria Advocate, the outlet store will feature “discontinued, one-of-a-kind items, mismatched and floor models offered at clearance prices.”
Ethan Allen breaks ground on new design center
Shenandoah, Texas – Construction has begun on a new, freestanding 17,000-sq.-ft. Ethan Allen Design Center, set to open this fall on I-45 here.

The interior will feature state-of-the-art LED lighting and a new boutique-style floor plan designed to highlight the company’s latest styles and services. This includes private presentation rooms for one-on-one design consultations and displays that showcase the company’s new take-with accents. It is anticipated that this location will have a staff of 10 professional designers to assist clients in the selection of furniture, window coverings, floor coverings, lighting and accessories.
Kikkerland opens Greenwich Village flagship store
New York – Kikkerland Design recently launched its first brick-and-mortar retail venture, a flagship store at 493 Sixth Ave. in Greenwich Village.
The Kikkerland shop houses the full range of Kikkerland-designed goods, alongside bags, tabletop items, furniture, lighting, gardening products, bicycle accessories, pet accessories and toys from small independent designers. The store also hosts design events.
The 1,500-sq.-ft. store is a collaboration with Kevin Brynan, the owner of Mxyplyzyk, a home décor and specialty gift store that closed last year after 22 years of business in the West Village.
Washington – T.J. Maxx and Homegoods recently opened a new store here at 3222 M St. NW at the Georgetown Park mall. Homegoods carries furniture, bedding, lighting, rugs, wall décor and decorative accessories, among other items. The discount home décor store is also set to open a new store this month at 150-R Jennifer Road in Annapolis, Md., in the Annapolis Plaza Shopping Center.
Ocala, Fla. – Home décor retailer Kirkland’s opened a new store here in February at the Market Street at Heath Brook shopping center. According to the Ocala Star Banner, the 7,466-sq.-ft. store opens six months after the retailer closed another location at Ocala’s Paddock Mall. Kirkland’s carries accent furniture, wall décor, lighting, soft goods, rugs, tabletop and decorative accessories.
Houston – Cost Plus World Market opened a new store here in February at Willowbrook Plaza, located at 17355 Tomball Parkway. The store carries furniture, rugs, wall décor, soft goods, lighting and decorative accessories.
Fort Wayne, Ind. – Art Van opened a new store here in February at 311 Coliseum Blvd., located across from Glenbrook Mall. The 46,000-sq.-ft. store carries a variety of furniture, accessories and mattresses and also features an Art Van Clearance Center.
Muskegon, Mich. – Clothing and home décor store Gordmans is opening a new location this month at the Lakeshore Marketplace Shopping Center at 5159 Harvey St. The 50,000-sq.-ft. store’s home décor offerings include accent furniture, wall décor, decorative accessories and tabletop. The retailer is also opening two other stores this month – one at the Shops on Main at 101 U.S. Highway 41 in Schererville, Ind., and one at the South Shore Shopping Center at 1001 Parkcenter Blvd. in Boise, Idaho.
Henderson, Nev. – Down East Home & Clothing opened a new store here in February, located in the Silverado Ranch Plaza at 9851 South Eastern Ave., Suite 105. The retail chain’s home décor offerings include furniture, rugs and decorative accessories.
