Sky Home and Hilary Farr Designs are heading into Market Week in bedding together, readying for the launch of an earth-friendly collection inspired by the luxurious, understated Brit chic aesthetic of the internationally renowned designer and star or HGTV’s Love It or List It.
Sky Home is the U.S. arm of the Gul Ahmed, a vertically integrated textiles giant based in Pakistan, known not only as a fashion leader and supplier to the world’s big box retailers, but also for its support of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), dedication to sustainable sourcing and social initiatives. Indeed, the corporate parent’s ongoing efforts to minimize its carbon footprint, numerous certifications and programs designed to empower women are among the differentiators that attracted the designer to Sky Home.
“Sky Home is not only a fashion innovator with a great value proposition, it’s a company that aligns with my own core values regarding care for our planet and its inhabitants, as well as raising the status of women around the world,” says Farr, who credits her own mother with instilling a love of global travel in her formative years that continues to inform her designs today, as well as the development of a powerful work ethic even as a child.
Inside the highly experiential Sky Home showroom at The Textile Building, 295 5th Avenue, Suite 702, the accomplished designer will be on hand to meet with buyers and personally introduce her pure cotton ensembles created with sleep and the planet in mind.
According to Steve Pianowski, vice president of product development/sales at Sky Home, the Hilary Farr Designs collection will initially consist of sustainably sourced and produced 300 percale sheets, cotton blankets, comforters, shams, decorative pillows, throws, matelassé coverlets with scalloped flanges and duvet covers. All are characterized by Farr’s fresh, signature prints.
“Sky Home and its strategic partners around the globe are working together to bring Hilary’s vision to consumers using the most environmentally sustainable processes. Hilary fell in love with our industry leading environmental position, and even the packaging of her products will be not only fabric based, but sustainable, recyclable and re-usable. She has an uncanny sense of what consumers want now, and she is determined to create high fashion looks with an emphasis on great comfort at very accessible prices. We are tremendously excited to have secured the textiles license in the launch of the groundbreaking Hilary Farr Designs whole home product collection, and frankly, to be working directly with her on realizing her vision for this collection.”
For her part, Farr says, “Heading into the twelfth year of a hit show, while creating collections for every room in the home, along with a full slate of design projects, makes me passionately aware of the value of a good night’s sleep, and the importance of creating a sanctuary where you can dream big. So, for me, this launch is quite personal, and my hope is that you will love it as much as I do.”
