Ryan Hughes Design Build today announced that one of its recent projects, The Ballmot Lazy River, has been selected as the People’s Pick for the Waterside Retreat Category of the 2019 HGTV Ultimate Outdoor Awards. Over half a million votes were cast by HGTV fans to designate the Ryan Hughes project as one of the best. The Lazy River outdoor space, which encompasses nearly 8,000 square feet of outdoor living space, was designed and constructed by Hughes and his team for a Tampa, FL homeowner.

"We’re excited to be acknowledged by the premier home and garden network for our Lazy River project,” said Ryan Hughes, Owner/Creative Director, Ryan Hughes Design Build. “This project, which includes a 200-foot lazy river encircles an amenity-rich island. It connects the flowing waters to a custom designed pool and borders outdoor lounging and dining areas. The technical and visual engineering on display within this project are examples of the depth of expertise for which our team has become known.”

The award-winning outdoor venue was crafted per the homeowner’s request to replicate a favorite resort and constructed in Ryan Hughes’ signature “over the top” manner.  Streaming waters within the Ballmont Lazy River project flow around and through an elegant and commercially appointed outdoor space literally outside the family’s back door.

“The design provided ample space for outdoor experiences and family fun,” said Hughes. “Private relaxation also was addressed by incorporating a dedicated owner’s patio with lounge seating, spa and landscaped privacy with easy access to all the amenity areas.”

From the projects entered into the 2019 HTGV Ultimate Outdoor Awards, a team of judges selected finalists in each of the four categories. Online voting that took place in the spring led to the selection of the winners.
