Photographer Ron Royals and international designer Julia Starr Sanford will unveil a fine art photography and visionary furniture collection pop-up showroom at the spring High Point Market. The space, located at 1012 W. Market Center Drive, will be open Wednesday, April 3 through Saturday, April 5.
The unconventional pop-up will showcase 40 pieces of Royals' fine art photography and over 30 pieces of Starr Sanford’s Sublime Original furniture collection. High Point-based Royals' fine art photography is often inspired by travel. A commercial assignment took Royals on what he calls a “photo safari” throughout Southeast Asia earlier this year, inspiring curiosity and his artist’s eye. Royals is debuting 15 new large-scale fine art photographic works inspired by the sights and insights garnered in Bali and surrounding areas.
Royals explains, “I’ve always been drawn to the natural world and most especially, the ocean, tropical
environments and native cultures. Bali stole my heart. Back in High Point, reviewing, editing and
processing the images transported me back to Bali. It’s exciting to capture and now share that
experience through art.”
To elevate the experience, the space also showcases furnishings from Florida-based international
designer Starr Sanford. This is the High Point premiere of her Sublime Original collection. Over
30 pieces will be included in the show, thoughtfully paired with Royals' art, playing on synergies and
contrasts to create intriguing visual tableaus.
Speaking to the market partnership, Royals notes, “I’m thrilled. Julia’s Sublime Original designs engage all
the senses. Forms are modern and organic, familiar and yet entirely new. This is furniture that evokes
feeling. Art does not exist in a vacuum and the chance to partner with Julia elevates the entire pop-up
experience. This is not something High Point’s seen before.”
The Royals-Starr Sanford creative duo are also hosting a launch party Thursday, April 4 from 6-10 p.m. with
an eclectic mix of craft beer, wine and gourmet tacos. All are invited. RSVPs (ron@ronroyals.com) are
