The New York Design Center announced the 2020 “What’s New, What’s Next” event (WNWN) with a new virtual format to be held over four market weeks from September 8 to October 8, 2020. Hosted via New York Design Center’s WNWN microsite and social channels, this year’s event will include a series of multi-faceted digital activations highlighting the very best of what’s “new” and “next” in design.
The re-envisioned virtual programming will include interactive panel conversations, showroom walk- throughs, a “WNWN Book Talk” series, an inaugural brand ambassador program, and more, to be hosted by the industry’s top designers, editors, and manufacturers.
As the New York Design Center looks to expand its global design community, WNWN will feature a diverse line-up of industry voices and partner organizations including the Black Interior Designer’s Network (BIDN), the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID), NYCxDesign, and more.
The New York Design Center is also partnering with Design Centre Chelsea Harbour and The Horticultural Society of New York for a discussion with British husband and wife duo, Sue Stuart-Smith, acclaimed author, psychiatrist, and psychotherapist, and Tom Stuart-Smith, celebrated landscape architect and garden designer. Known for their exquisite gardens across the UK and Europe, the conversation will explore the relationship between gardening and mental health, moderated by Veranda’s Steele Marcoux. This international collaboration is a highlight for both Chelsea Harbour’s benchmark event, Focus/20, and WNWN.
“What’s New, What’s Next has always been a celebration of connection, creativity, and innovation in the design industry,” says Jim Druckman, President/CEO of The New York Design Center. “This is a pivotal moment where the home is evolving, taking on new importance fostering work, school, and play. The value of a well-designed space is greater than ever. This year’s WNWN is a representation of all aspects of our vital industry shining a spotlight on the present and future of interior design.”
On September 16, the New York Design Center will launch a dedicated product catalog featuring hundreds of introductions from its showrooms. This searchable online resource will give the global design community access to new products and will directly connect users to each showroom at 200 Lex, further expanding The New York Design Center shopping experience.
