Lightovation 2017 Offers Events, Exhibits and Learning

Attendees can experience new showrooms/expansions, keynote speakers and the ever-popular Lighting After Dark cocktail party.

Dallas Market Center’s (DMC) upcoming Lightovation event, January 18-22, will include new and expanded showrooms; educational programming from the American Lighting Assn. (ALA); two Lightovation keynote speakers; a grand opening celebration for the expanded shared Spectrum showroom; and the ever-popular Lighting After Dark party.

Lighting After Dark
On Wednesday, January 18 starting at 8 p.m., attendees and exhibitors will congregate in the Chaparral Rome 38th floor, Center Tower at the Downtown Sheraton Hotel. This year’s cocktail party theme is Mardi Gras masquerade. Those wishing to attend must present a show badge for admittance.

New Showrooms/Expansions
The shared Spectrum showroom in TM 4432 will be expanded by 55 percent in January, enabling eight new exhibitors to set up shop and two existing exhibitors to expand their presence. A ribbon cutting and champagne toast will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18.

-Arnsberg is making its North American debut at Lightovation in TM 4931

-Thomas Lighting will show in its own space at TM 3309

-Kuzco Lighting will open a second showroom in TM 3321

-LBL and Ambiance Lighting Systems will show in new space TM 4014

-Lite Source will launch a new showroom in January TM 4925

Attendees will have the opportunity to experience Light + Design for the first time in WTC 10085. The 20,000-square-foot space opened in October.

The new Light + Technology space in TM 4804 will host a two-day training session for CEDIA with future plans to exhibit home automation and smart and connected products.

Keynote Speakers

Randall Whitehead: “We All Have Control Issues”
On Wed., Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. Randall Whitehead, IALD, will explain how smarter systems offer the ability to create scenes versus simply controlling groups of lights, as well as how to work with customers to find their comfort level with new technologies.

Whitehead’s keynote is presented by Lighting & Decor magazine and sponsored by Bulbrite, Livex Lighting and Varaluz.

Dr. Mariana Figueiro: “Light and Health — Update on Research and Application"
On Thurs., Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. Mariana G. Figueiro, Ph.D., will explore the latest research relating to lighting and health, and to discuss how that knowledge can inform the recommendations showrooms should make to customers for lighting their homes.
