1. This client’s kitchen is the “heart” of her home and it had to perform. Together, we hand-picked each fixture and appliance, considering the use for each item. For color and style, we looked to her love of tribal texture and memories of her family’s beloved factory in Germany. Industrial-styled features were woven with muted toned tribal textures. Mid-Century Modern-inspired counter stools sit in juxtaposition to the simple Shaker form on the cabinetry. Simple modern industrial-inspired white artisan pendants, bright white and dimmable recessed LED cans and under-cabinet lighting, and extra-large windows layered the lighting.
2. We selected two countertops: Caesarstone Pure White for the surrounding countertops — durable, recycled, anti-microbial — for a super-clean look; and a soft khaki and white marble slab for the island, a nod to the European finishes of the client’s childhood. The paint for the lacquered island and butler’s cabinet was a custom creation, which took nine samples to get just right. The cabinets and wall color is our go-to contemporary perfect white (Dunn-Edwards Cool December) — not too cool, and not too warm. Stainless steel finishes for appliances, hardware and plumbing were chosen for style, longevity and durability.
3. This project remains one of our most beloved. When you work closely for so long with a client and their family, you become very close. Designing and building for our clients is a very intimate relationship. We know everything, and it is a privilege and honor to have their trust. With that comes friendship and love. Our favorite thing about this kitchen was the friendship gained and seeing our client so full of happiness and emotion about her home. Knowing that we accomplished our client’s objectives aesthetically — with attention to every detail — and built a beautiful space that will last is definitely our favorite part of designing this kitchen.
