This room from Clark & Clark Interiors serves multiple purposes.

Pops of color, textures and multi-function are important characteristics used in the design of Clark and Clark Interiors, a Charlotte, NC, firm. The client loved the harmonious feeling created by blending all three elements in this office.

1 We like to create multi-purpose spaces and decided to use the “living room” as a flex space that would function as a secondary home office, for overflow dining and as a room that will nurture the client while reading a good book, playing a game of cards or relaxing with family. Pops of color and textured surfaces are important ingredients in the warmth and feel of the room.

2 We selected inviting, comfortable furniture upholstered in neutral textured fabrics, and then added layers using other finishes like the dark rich wood finish on the display cabinet, painted wood and stone top. The table is used as a desk, game table and dining table so we chose a castered foot so it could easily be moved around as needed.

3 This is the front room of the house and we wanted it to “pop.” We used touches of metallic throughout — a metallic woven grasscloth wallpaper from the Phillip Jeffries Glam Grass collection, silver-leaf finish on the chairs, hand-painted silver-leaf striping on the game table and chest, polished nickel casters on the game table, and a metal base for the end table. The client loves unexpected details so we added her initials in the display cabinet, the elephant sculpture, and paired it with vases that belonged to her grandmother.
