International Market Centers (IMC) announced that Las Vegas Design Center's (LVDC) monthly First Friday series, held next on June 4 both in person and virtually, will focus on natural stone. Participants in the free session will receive 0.1 CEU credits.

"Natural stone applications can add beauty, character and value to any living space," said LVDC General Manager Cain Brodie. “By communicating the proper expectations for performance and maintenance requirements, the consumer will gain a better understanding and appreciation for using natural stone in their kitchens and bathrooms."

The June session, titled, Natural Stone Countertops: Considerations for Kitchen and Bath Applications, explores the physical characteristics and properties of different types of natural stone and how to set proper expectations for their performance as a residential countertop material. Participants will gain an understanding of the fabrication, installation, care and maintenance of granite, marble, quartzite and soapstone to ensure longevity and consumer satisfaction. They will learn what design aesthetics can be achieved with natural stone and why many of today’s trends favor this incredibly versatile, durable and beautiful material. Participants also will discover the value achieved by selecting natural stone over artificial materials for a countertop surface and leave with innovative design ideas for future projects.

The session will be presented by Lelia Freidlander, president and owner of the Las Vegas-based TuffSkin Surface Protection, a proprietary stone sealer that guarantees stone countertops, like marble, are etch- and stain-proof. Freidlander is a 2020 graduate of the MGM Supplier Diversity Leadership Program and a 2017 graduate of the WBENC Platinum Supplier Program. She received the 2018 Women of Distinction Award - Construction, and was the recipient of Congressional recognition in 2016 from the House of Representatives for being a finalist in the Nevada Business Magazine's Family Owned Business Award.

The session is from 10 to 11 a.m. (PT) on Friday, June 4, and will be held in person in LVDC Seminar Room A240 and simulcast live via Zoom. To register to attend in person, please email kmaas@imcenters.com. Register online to attend the Zoom presentation.

LVDC's next First Friday"session will be on Friday, August 6.
