Kalco Lighting today announced two major investments into the contract/hospitality vertical – a website focused specifically on the needs of the hospitality market, and the hiring of Mary Beth Powell as Vice President of Hospitality Sales, who will oversee the brand’s efforts.

“We’ve been involved in the contract/hospitality market for years; working with architects and designers on customizing pieces for their projects because we have the capabilities to do so as a true manufacturer. What we are doing with this website and our new vice president is catering more completely to this vertical – focusing the information and inspiration more succinctly on the needs of this market,” said Snehal Shah, President of Kalco Lighting.

The website is organized into sections by lighting application: public spaces, corridors, guest rooms and suites and restaurant lighting needs. Kalco has the capabilities to design and engineer fixtures as large as required for lobbies and event spaces.

Kalco’s design engineers work with architects and designers to deliver a superior experience that extends well beyond the products created for hospitality and contract spaces. Kalco’s team works as trusted partners with the architects and design teams. Hospitality and contract specifiers understand that Kalco’s team can design and modify almost any lighting fixture in their product line, making their collections one of the lighting industry’s most versatile and visionary. As creative collaborators, Kalco also offers its clients complete customization capabilities, allowing designers and specifiers the freedom to create new designs from their own vision.

Mary Beth Powell

With more than 30 years of experience in the design industry, Powell, Kalco’s new Vice President of Hospitality Sales brings a varied and unique voice to Kalco. She began her career with a degree in Interior Design, but it soon became apparent that she had a skill set well-suited to business development and sales in the services of architecture and design.

Prior to joining Kalco, Powell was the National Sales Manager for Sapphire Chandelier. She knew of Kalco through her business contacts but also on a personal level; while renovating her own home and looking for fixtures, Kalco’s products fit the vision of what she was looking for. As Powell says, “timeless, classic, trendy, and the utmost quality. I was sold on the brand at first sight.”

When asked why she is excited about joining the Kalco team, she replied with a bit of personal history: “My father was a home-builder and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree as I have that same passion as my father. Building and creating something new and seeing the joy it brings is why I am excited to be part of the Kalco family.”

Shah feels the same way about what she will bring to her role with the company, “Customer service and building global and domestic relationships are her passions, and we can truly say that she has never met a stranger. Her personality is outgoing with the ability to comfortably interact with all people without fear of rejection; this speaks to her many successes in the domestic and international market and to the numerous business relationships she has developed and maintained to this day.”
