Palm Springs designer Christopher Kennedy introduces an e-commerce addition to his eponymous Palm Springs,CA, lifestyle boutique.
The e-commerce addition, launching May 23, comes at a time when visitors are particularly missing the resort escape that Palm Springs and its iconic mid-century modern lifestyle has to offer. After opening the storefront three years ago, the time feels right.
“We are always fielding requests to shop online when our visitors return home,” says Christopher Kennedy, shop owner and lead designer. “Our clientele lives all over the U.S. and looks forward to their yearly escapes. At the start of the new decade, I committed myself to launching e-commerce as an extension of our brand, and quite frankly, the ability to launch in four quick months was largely made possible due to COVID-19 and my sudden lack of scheduled commitments. With focused, uninterrupted time to perfect the site, we’re now shipping a slice of sunshine and happiness to the clients and visitors we miss so much.”
The e-commerce shop will feature the majority of Kennedy’s in-store offerings including a mix of resort-inspired gifts and design-focused pieces that are frequently used in many Christopher Kennedy interior design projects. The online shop will also include the Christopher Kennedy licensed art collection with Wendover Art Group and his two design books, Making Midcentury Modern and California Modern. Product categories include décor, furniture, lighting, artwork, lifestyle, outdoor, and entertaining.
“The website allows me to offer more furniture and lighting than we can display at our storefront,” says Kennedy. “Despite having 3,500 square feet, there is never enough room for everything. In a sense, it feels as if I’m opening up my design files and allowing customers to create a Christopher Kennedy look in their homes without necessarily engaging our design services. Our experience in the shop has taught me that it’s something people are asking for, both locally in Palm Springs and beyond.”
For those looking to visit in person, the boutique plans to safely reopen in the summer, following California and CDC guidelines. The Christopher Kennedy storefront and design studio are located in the Uptown Design District, in the heart of Palm Springs on N. Palm Canyon Drive.
