The 2022 IDS National Conference in Chicago included a variety of education, networking and experiences — all around the city of Chicago! The conference itself took place at the Chicago Merchandise Mart, with additional experiences at other exciting venues around the city.
LuAnn Nigara kicked off opening day with a lunch and keynote on tapping into your inner voice when it comes to decision making. An educational Session with Kae Whitaker about content that converts followed, teaching us how to make the biggest impact online to drive your bottom line.
Following the day one sessions, all attendees enjoyed a Sip & Stroll at The Mart, where we were able to explore several showrooms.
A welcome reception at Marshall's Landing followed, hosted by Thermador. Conversation was as vibrant as the energy. Everyone was thrilled to be back at IDS! The food and drinks were delicious, too.
Day two began with a presentation by Martyn Lawrence Bullard, hosted by The Shade Store. He discussed his new collection, and reviewed prior projects with high profile clients including Elton John, Kylie Jenner and Tommy Hilfiger. In the afternoon, Haydn Shaw gave a presentation on guiding people through change, and how to make it as painless a process as possible.
An architecture tour on the Chicago River followed to close the day, offering relaxing views of the skyline under the evening sun.
Day three featured more exciting, interactive tours of various showrooms and demos of high-end products. Showrooms included Revel Woods, Thermador and Emtek.
That evening, members and guests of the Interior Design Society gathered at Chicago’s Blackstone Hotel to honor the winners of the 2022 Designer of the Year competition. Emceed by Jonathan Adler, the event was lively, inspiring and full of impressive design.
Also honored was Kimberly Joi McDonald, who received the IDS Fellow Award. The Fellow Award is the highest honor, given only to those who have gone above and beyond to make significant impacts to IDS and the interior design industry. Staci Steidley of Studio Steidley also took home the Universal Design award that evening (pictured right).
We can't wait for IDS 2023!
