The Interior Design Society (IDS) recently concluded their very first Virtual Swatched competition and game. Created by IDS Long Island and played in local chapters across the U.S., Swatched is an interior design game where participants race against the clock to create a unique design from the ground up by using products provided by IDS sponsors and supporters. The projects were evaluated by celebrity judges Robin Baron, Patti Carpenter, and David Santiago.
The winners, who all walked away with remarkable prizes, are as follows:
- Winner: Theresa Gresham, Theresa G. Design
- 2nd Place: Jennifer Collins, Inviting Interiors
- 3rd Place: Coralee Angell-Monaghan
- Student Winner: Tonya Huffman
Wendy Lepkoff, President of the IDS Virtual Chapter says, “Our chapter discussed hosting virtual Swatched a year ago, but the timing was never right. Then, BOOM, a pandemic hit the U.S. and we were all not working or going to any organizational events. It truly was perfect timing to introduce Virtual Swatched. The training component was awesome, as everyone was becoming a bit more tech savvy since they were stuck at home. Many people were doing all sorts of webinars with their free time, so why not learn some virtual design. E-Design Tribe and Mydoma Studio made this all possible. I feel proud to know that we nudged designers into learning this and then competing using that knowledge.”
A portion of the proceeds were donated to Nurses House, a charity that provides relief to nurses affected by COVID-19. Winning projects can be seen on the IDS website.
