Since 2014, consumers and home design and renovation professionals have come to Houzz.com for great products and even greater services. Today, the home renovation and design platform launched the Houzz Trade Program to reward those trade professionals who buy and recommend products straight from Houzz.com.
“We’re incredibly excited to give our 1.5 million-strong professional community the opportunity to increase both profit and client satisfaction through the Houzz Trade Program,” said Liza Hausman, Vice President of Industry Marketing for Houzz. “This program is the latest tool we’ve developed to benefit our incredible pro community, and continues to make the process of renovation and design more productive, profitable and fun for everyone involved.”
Houzz currently has over 60 different categories of trade professionals on its platform, many browsing the 8 million products available for purchase. This new program will work in several different ways to give trade professionals the best benefits no matter how they use the platform.
If you and your clients can't live without Houzz.com, then listen up! Here's what you need to know.
How it Works
Over 200,000 products will be available at a discount to the trade from manufacturers such as Baldwin, Emerson fans, Feiss and Safavieh, to name a few. There are a few ways industry professionals can benefit from the program:
- Trade professionals who buy directly from Houzz may receive up to 50 percent off the consumer price of the product.
- If a professional recommends products to clients through Houzz's Ideabook and the client purchases on or more products, then the trade professional will receive 10 percent of the purchase as a credit on the site, which can be used to buy other products.
- For professionals who do not recommend products, Houzz will provide referral codes, which can be given to clients. When used, clients will get 5 percent off, and the professional will receive a 5 percent rebate.
Trade professionals will also have access to a number of other great benefits. Their account will have a real-time dashboard, which will track their earnings for them. Orders $49 and above will ship for free. Professionals will also have access to certain products available only to the trade.
Why Now
Ever since Houzz.com began selling products online, rewarding trade professionals has always been on the table, according to Hausman.
"It's something that we knew we wanted to do since the first day we launched ecommerce," she says.
As the site's popularity grew, more designers began recommending products through the site's Ideabooks. Many bought items themselves directly through Houzz. In response, Hausman and her team were able to show manufacturers how much product was being sold on their platform and negotiate discounts for industry professionals.
"Once vendors saw that we were moving a lot of product for them," Hausman says, "we knew we could go to them with these discounts.”
