Furniture First announces new retailers to board of directors.

Last month three retailers were approved as members by Furniture First’s board of directors: Johnson Furniture in Eclectic, AL; Outrageous Interiors, in Marietta, GA; and Vinson Fine Furniture in Columbus, OH.

For more than 60 years Johnson Furniture has brought quality home furnishings to central Alabama’s River Region. Today the store is operated by the fifth generation of the Keith family, with an emphasis on quality and custom order merchandise.

Patti Gosch founded Outrageous Interiors in 1988 and was joined in the business by her husband Kurt shortly after their oldest child was born. Today the family operates four stores across Metro Atlanta with a client-focused design team.

Vinson Fine Furniture started in 1979 as a kitchen and dining specialty retailer. A family venture from the outset, the Vinson family centered their business around the heart of the home. In 2022 they rebranded to become a full-line furniture store with a focus on heirloom quality furnishings.

“We’re thrilled to welcome these new members to our cooperative,” said Andrew Kauffman, CEO of Furniture First. “They each have had a unique retail journey but have a similar mindset: to learn from other retailers facing the same challenges that they are. Right now, that is traffic, promotions and staffing. Long term it may be benchmarking and succession planning. We offer support and solutions for a variety of challenges.”

Furniture First is a cooperative national home furnishings and mattress buying group serving full line independent retailers with sales over $2 million. Collectively, the group sells $3 billion at retail with their approved merchandise programs in the 524 member storefronts.  Furniture First recently opened a new High Point showroom at 336 South Main Street, in the heart of the High Point Market district.
