When designer and IBB Design Fine Furnishings owner Shay Geyer needs a custom floral arrangement, she calls Shane Friesenhahn of The Botanical Mix. When Friesenhahn needed a designer for a new botanical line, he tapped Geyer for the job. Their collection will debut at the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market this month, and Geyer has plenty to say about it.
Orchid mania
I’m pretty partial to fuchsia orchid arrangements. People constantly comment on the color and how life-like they are. I love the large arrangement in the blue and white bowl and the large gold chiseled vessel (left) is also a favorite. They’re both simple but luxurious.
Real or fake?
I wanted to bring unique arrangements that looked so life-like that you had to touch them to see the difference. We also added design elements that you would see from a high-end fresh florist, like acrylic rods and geode accents like quartz, calcite, amethyst and malachite. The Botanical Mix also does big business with fresh floral arrangements, so Shane shares my perspective and pickiness when it comes to offering the best in permanent botanicals.
Contain your excitement
The containers are all so beautiful. We really took time to select containers that would complement each design. We are also working on developing our own containers that will expand our exclusive offerings. We offer a wide variety of scales, from smaller succulent arrangements to use on a nightstand or end table, to very grand arrangements that would make a dramatic statement in an entryway.
The next level
There’s just something about walking past a beautiful arrangement that puts a big smile on my face. I wish I could have fresh florals delivered to use all over my home on a weekly basis, but that budget line item is just not a reality. Having beautiful and unique permanent botanicals is the next best thing. They’re a beautiful finishing touch to a room’s design.
