The Student Portfolio Competition seeks to generate the best collection of student design projects in the nation. Submissions were evaluated based on conceptual thought, the content of the work and the student’s record of achievement.

This year’s Student Portfolio Competition grand prize winner was Yu-Hsiang Fu of the New York School of Interior Design. The internship winners were Meichun Cai, School of Visual Arts; Cammy Aw, Savannah College of Art and Design and Hinako Nakagawa, Parsons School of Design. Fu will intern at Studio O+A, Cai will intern at Gensler, Aw will intern at HKS and Nakagawa will intern at HOK.

The ASID Student Chapter Awards recognize achievement among ASID student chapters and their leaders in three categories. The ASID Student Chapter of the Year Award recognizes a single chapter that has provided exceptional service to its members and community. Colorado State University won the 2017 award.

The ASID Student Chapter Leader of the Year Award recognizes one ASID student chapter leader each year. This year, Bonnie Hoecker of the New York School of Interior Design won the award. Finally, the ASID Student Chapter Event of the Year Award recognizing an innovative ASID program was awarded to The University of Georgia.
