The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame has opened nominations for its inaugural Home Furnishings Leadership Institute at High Point University on February 20 to 24, 2022.  Nominations close on Oct. 31, 2021.

Candidates must be under 40 years of age and should be viewed as a proven leader, an innovator, a focused achiever and committed to the home furnishings industry as a career.

Fashioned after the prestigious Harvard Business School Seminar for the Young President’s Organization and Chief Executives Organization – attended by many leaders in our industry – the Leadership Institute is founded on the power and impact of peer learning gained through focused tutorial seminars. It is designed for serious emerging leaders across the industry who aspire to greater achievement and who want to be exposed to new ways of thinking and problem solving.

The Leadership Institute will focus on the four pillars of leadership skills as agents of change:  vision, communication, execution and culture.  Select faculty from the Earl N. Phillips School of Business and the Nido R. Qubein School of Communications will lead a combination of lectures and discussions.  In addition, the Institute will build on the legacy of our inducted members of the Hall of Fame by connecting them in classes with the industry’s finest emerging leaders.  Participants who attend three institutes will be honored as a Home Furnishings Leadership Institute Fellow and will be awarded a graduation certificate and digital badge.

Tuition for the Leadership Institute is $6,000, which includes room, board and materials. Classes and discussion groups will utilize the new state-of-the-art Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center and the adjoining Jana and Ken Kahn Hotel on the HPU campus.  Twenty-five emerging leaders will be selected from a nominated pool of candidates for a challenging seminar of peer learning based on the practice of successful home furnishings leadership.
