The American Lighting Association (ALA) Women in Lighting (WIL) Committee announces another dynamic speaker for its popular reception taking place during ALA’s annual Conference. Shawna Suckow has 20 years of specialized knowledge in consumer behavior, sales, and marketing, offering insights into a shifting marketplace. She will bring her expertise to the Sept. 10-12 Conference, taking place at the Everline Resort & Spa in Lake Tahoe, Calif.

Monday, Sept. 11, Suckow will lead an afternoon breakout session called “No Hype, Just Practical Solutions: How Anyone Can Use AI for Better Marketing.” Later that day, she will deliver the keynote at the Women in Lighting Event, a continuation of the group’s fifth anniversary celebration that kicked off at June Lightovation in Dallas.

Titled “The Most Unique Keynote Ever,” Suckow’s interactive presentation will include small-group discussions to facilitate networking while sharing ideas and discussing her actionable content. This session is sponsored by Dallas Market Center, Fanimation, Savoy House and Hubbardton Forge, and both Suckow-led events are open to all ALA Conference attendees, regardless of gender. While supplies last, keynote attendees will receive a complimentary commemorative Women in Lighting fifth anniversary T-shirt.

“We’re excited to continue the momentum of our fifth anniversary with another powerhouse speaker and dynamic event for ALA Conference attendees,” says WIL Committee Co-Chair Colleen Visage, Vice President of Product Management for Progress Lighting. “The women of our industry inspire us, so we always want to return the favor.”

At the Conference, the WIL Committee will sell collectible pins with a design based on the 2023 Conference’s scenic location. Sponsored by Maxim Lighting, the pin’s $20 sale price benefits Dress for Success, a global not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
