Abilux has recognized Brazilian manufacturer Accord Lighting for design excellence and leadership in 2022. Based in Sao Paulo, Abilux is the Brazilian Association of the Lighting Industry, and South American equivalent of the American Lighting Association. The Abilux Luminaire Design Award was created to recognize and promote excellence in design, innovation and quality while honoring lighting standards and best practices.
Winning all 3 awards, the Naia, Balance and Nostalgia floor lamps designed by the in-house team of Studio Accord at Accord Lighting took first, second and third place, respectively in the category.
Lead Designer at Accord Lighting, Bruno Felippe states "It's a great honor to receive the awards for the entire podium in the floor lamp category. This is a significant seal for the design of our products and a collective achievement for Brazilian culture, which has its history and folklore not only enhanced and recognized, but also perpetuated."
Founded in 1985, Abilux is a non-profit organization with the mission to unite the lighting industry, defend people’s interests, work for greater productivity and recognize design leadership within the framework of responsible socio environmental change.
Born in the countryside of southern Brazil in 1997, Accord Lighting sustainably designs and hand-crafts all their lighting products in a state-of-the art facility in South America and distributes throughout North and South America, Europe and the Middle East. To further expand into North America, they opened their first permanent showroom at the Dallas Trade Mart in January 2020.
