Dallas Market Center and its Lightovation—Dallas International Lighting Show will be closing nominations for its 2020 Light Stars program on March 1. This popular program enables lighting retailers to bring top salespeople to the June edition of Lightovation if they have not previously attended. Nominations are being accepted at www.dallasmarketcenter.com/lightstars.
Light Stars honorees accepted into the program will receive airfare and two nights of hotel accommodations during the summer edition of the largest residential lighting trade event in North America. In addition, Light Stars are granted access to all Lightovation educational seminars, exhibits and events, including the Showroom of the Year Awards and Lighting After Dark party. The 2019 class of Light Stars included 40 participants from 18 states and four Canadian provinces.
This year, there is another compelling reason for retailers to bring their salespeople to June Lightovation. The American Lighting Assn. (ALA) will host its Residential Lighting Training Course June 23-26 in The SMART Center (TM 4826) at Dallas Market Center during the show. This course is the most efficient way to earn ALA’s Lighting Specialist (LS) designation upon successful completion of an exam on the last day. The four-day intensive course will include a full day of instruction on Tuesday, June 23, and mornings June 24-26 to enable participants to experience Lightovation in the afternoons.
ALA is extending a 20 percent discount on the Residential Lighting Training Manual (required for the course) to all participants in the June 23-26 Residential Lighting Training Course. Additionally, 2020 Light Stars may take the course for a discounted rate of $475, compared to the regular fee of $675.
Registrants of the June Residential Lighting Training Course who are accepted into the 2020 Light Stars program will also receive four hotel nights instead of just two. To sign up for the Residential Lighting Training Course, visit https://alamembers.com/Product/live-training/4-day-residential-lighting-training-course. Space is limited for the course, so anyone interested is encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
Anyone in the industry may nominate a salesperson to be a Light Star. Retailers typically select outstanding sales personnel who would greatly benefit from exposure to Lightovation’s comprehensive product introductions, exhibitor merchandising displays, educational programming and networking opportunities. All nominees are vetted with each store’s management for qualifications and availability before acceptance to the program.
